New Jersey State Song History

There is an unofficial song for the state titled, “I’m From New Jersey” by Red Mascara. No offense to Red Mascara’s creation, but the song is a bit tired, old fashioned lyrically and musically, and doesn’t really represent the feelings of the diverse group of residents who live and work in the Garden State or lived there at one time in their life. And to make matters worse, it isn’t official….

New Jersey’s Unofficial State Song “I’m From New Jersey“, passed both Legislative Houses in 1972. However it was not signed into law by the Governor.

What does this tell you? It’s time for a change…

We are proposing a new New Jersey State song. A song with a message for all the people from New Jersey, who live in New Jersey or might be even thinking of settling down in the glorious state at some point in their life.

The song is aptly titled: Everything You Long For (Is In New Jersey)

The song was written for the new Broadway musical Flambé Dreams, with lyrics by Matthew Hardy and music by Randy Klein. The song closes with the glorious message: Everything You Long For Is In New Jersey.
